He Looks Like a Big Boy Now!

Awwww! My baby's all grown up!
Kenyon got a short haircut and he looks SO cute. And so grown up. Like a different kid. He kept wanting his hair "piky" though. "Piky! Like Kai!". He loves his big brother and wants to do anything Kai does and says everything Kai does. Pretty cute!

More Baseball......

Baseball. That's what this summer is all about.

Karter is playing on a 9 year old and under traveling team (since we don't have a 10u team and since he is considered a 9 year old according to the rules) and he made All-Stars in the regular league. So, we've got alot of baseball going on. He's got practice pretty much everyday and sometimes twice a day and when he doesn't have practice I'm hitting him pop flies and grounders or working him in the batting cage. He's loving it. (Not loving that we won't let him golf right now though)

He's got a tournament this 4th of July holiday with the traveling team then his All-Star tournament is on the 14-18th of July. His All-Star team should do quite well. He's on there with alot of his friends, including Korbyn Bertoch and Weston Horrocks.

CARDINALS BEAT METS!!

OH YEAH! OH YEAH!
The Cardinals beat the stinkin' Mets today 7-1! WOHOO!

Several New York Mets hitters came in with gaudy career numbers against Kyle Lohse. They did next to nothing against the St. Louis Cardinals' resurgent right-hander. Lohse allowed one unearned run in seven innings of the Cardinals' 7-1 victory on Monday night.

Albert Pujols had two hits and two RBIs to back Lohse's seventh straight win.

*sigh* I do love Albert....

Chris Duncan added a two-run homer, his first since May 16, and Aaron Miles had three hits while extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

3 more games in the series. GO CARDINALS!!!

Girl's Camp, baby!

I ditched my family for this???

You bet I did! Girl's Camp was awesome. It wasn't so much the activities as it was the girls and other leaders that made it so great. Neola 1st Ward has some wonderful, beautiful, talented, spiritual and very fun girls. We are so blessed. These girls behaved well and we didn't have an ounce of drama between them. It was just FUN.

It's not quite the Girl's Camp I remember since we get to go up to the Heber Valley Camp, but I'm not complaining. Flush toilets, showers, sinks, commercial kitchens, cabins and already established fire pits. Not a whole lot of work involved and that's alright with me. There is also a lake to go canoeing in, a challenge ropes course, established hiking trails and a people hauler to get you to and from.

Great view too.....

I was worried about it getting too hot up there. That was a needless worry. It was cold and it actually snowed on Wednesday.

I love snow and thought it was alright until we all had to crowd into one cabin to do stuff....

Baseball in a goregous setting....

We had the privilege of traveling to Tabiona to watch Karter play baseball last week. What a beautiful setting for a game. Cows mooing, spirited horses running with manes flying, wild elk herds grazing nearby, sprinkler pivots watering hayfields, and the mountains in the distance. Goregous. We didn't even care if they don't have grass in the outfield yet.

Happy Birthday, Karter!

Karter turned 10 on June 1st and had a great birthday. He is such an amazing kid. When I gave birth to the little guy who was trying to come into this world backwards 10 years ago, I had no idea what a blessing he would be in my life.
Photobucket

Karter is very intelligent, inquisitive, mature, responsible, a total rule follower, and quite funny. He has big dreams and wants to be a doctor someday.

Photobucket

Karter is also very spiritual and takes his religion to heart and tries to live his life according to the principles, values and standards we have instilled in him, and he keeps the rest of us on the right track as well. He is a wonderful public speaker as well. He has been asked to give several talks in church for the whole congregation and he does an excellent job, but he also brings a special spirit into the meeting when he wholeheartedly bears his testimony and tells how much he loves his family and Jesus Christ. Being a future missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a huge part of who he is. He is also a great big brother and helps out with his siblings alot and never misses Ally's ball games.

Karter loves sports of any kind, riding his bike, reading, camping, hunting, fishing and being in the mountains. He is very careful, conscientious, respectful, and adventuresome. He also values his friends quite a bit and is a true friend who watches out for his buddies and their needs.

Karter works hard around our house and is the #1 helper inside and out. He's got his own chores to do everyday, he feeds the pigs and the, rabbits, but he never complains about doing laundry, helping me clean house or cleaning up the yard and mowing the lawn. Here he is with this year's pigs for 4-H and the Duchesne County Fair.
Photobucket

He's also playing baseball on a travelling team this summer so we'll be hitting alot of tournaments and having fun chasing him around the state playing ball. I love every ounce of this child and if I could be guaranteed another 10 just like him, I'd have 10 more. Everyone needs a Karter.

Memorial Day

My Great Grandpa Phillips started our family Memorial Day tradition. He had two sons buried in the Roosevelt Cemetary and he made sure the rest of the family took care of their headstones and decorated their graves every Memorial Day. My grandparents faithfully followed suit and so do we. We will be at that cemetary every Memorial Day at 10 am come rain or shine. It's a tradition I have always enjoyed and hope my kids enjoy it.

Ally was handing out Veterans poppies and collecting donations. She looked so cute most people didn't say 'No' when she told them they could donate if they wanted to.

My Great Grandpa Phillips always made sure we took care of the pauper's headstones in the cemetary as well. We always put flowers on these two graves and dig their headstones out and clean them. The headstones are just concrete slabs and the one is quite small. We have to carve the name back out every year. Great Grandpa Phillips never knew these people, but noone else did either so he took care of their graves and so do we.
