Thanksgiving in the Book Cliffs

We love our annual Thanksgiving tradition in the Book Cliffs. 4 days of dust, deer, dutch oven turkey (and an awesome brisket I made Saturday night) sometimes snow and tons of fun.

Click on the pic for a closer look. You'll see it was snowing..at least spitting snow anyway. Nothing sticking yet

We go there every Thanksgiving too! What part do you go to ? We just go to see the deer and get a tree (a one day trip). Fun Fun!

We go out South of Ouray and we stay from Wednesday to Sunday. My family has been camping in the Books for over 70 years. My parents met out there during deer season in 1971, their parents were friends who hunted together. We started going out to camp and get wood out there every weekend after the deer hunt and just left our trailers out there. We started having Thanksgiving out there when I was 10 or so. Tradition ever since. My brothers and cousins and I pretty much grew up out there in this same place we always go. We love it.

A dutch oven turkey, that sounds so good. I am wanting some right now. Looks like tons of fun.
